How it works

The Green Scot specialises in domestic and commercial junk removal in Glasgow, Edinburgh and across Scotland's Central Belt.

Our friendly, professional and efficient two person teams remove all types of non-hazardous waste, from construction or refurbishment waste, to electrical appliances, furniture and garden refuse. Junk can be removed from anywhere on the property and we'll even give the place a sweep before we leave!

We then donate what we can to local charities and recycle the rest at local waste transfer stations (we divert from landfill over 90% of what we collect).

You will only be charged according to the volume and type of junk to be removed and disposal costs are included in the price.

It's a cost effective alternative to skip hire, plus we do all the heavy lifting so you don't have to.

The Green Scot has public liability insurance and has a SEPA waste carrier licence. Our license number is WCR-9FDA8.

For health and safety purposes there are certain hazardous items we can't collect.

Al staff members undergo Police Scotland Basic Disclosure checks.

  • For insurance, regulatory and health & safety reasons, we won't remove hazardous waste materials. These include noxious chemicals, solvents, motor oils, petrol cans, asbestos, raw meat and fish, medical or biological waste, or any toxic substances.

  • Yes we are fully licensed and are SEPA registered. Our license number is WCR-79FDA8.

  • We can usually offer a same day collection for work requested before 10am, if it's in the Glasgow area. Otherwise we can collect the following day or at an alternative time that is convenient for you.

You can book us in for a collection in advance too.

In addition, you don't have to be at the property when your junk is collected as long as it is accessible from the road and clearly marked.

  • Yes we can.

Feel free to give us a call or drop us an email to discuss your junk removal needs.

We can offer discount prices for regular commercial customers.

  • You can make payment by cash, debit/credit card or bank transfer at the time of your waste collection. We also accept payment by account (invoicing) for commercial customers. This can be set up by request.

Please let us know your preference when making your booking.

  • Where possible, we will try to donate your sofa to a charity for reuse and if not, we will dispose of it at a recycling centre. To reduce the chance of your sofa ending up in landfill:

    • Never remove the fire safety labels and keep all the original cushions

    • If you cannot be present at the collection and need to leave the sofa outside, cover it to protect it from rain

    • If you’re getting rid of a 3 piece suite, do it all at once. Reuse enterprises are more likely to accept a full suite than single items

  • The waste industry tends to describe the volume of waste in ‘cubic yards’. A cubic yard measures 1 yard (3 foot or 0.92 metres) high x 1-yard wide x 1 yard deep. It is roughly the size of two washing machines (or one domestic fridge freezer).

Don’t worry if you are unsure on the size of your waste, just give us a call or email/whatsapp with some photos and your postcode. We will give you a free no-obligation quote.

  • Don’t worry if you are not sure! The easiest way to get an accurate price is to contact us for a quote. You can email, call or Whatsapp us for a free, no-obligation quote. Just send us some photos of the waste to be removed plus the collection post code and we will give you a price.

  • Yes, no job is too small or too big. See our Pricing page for our prices for single item collections. If you have multiple items to dispose of, get in touch as it may be cheaper to price the job in cubic yards.

The Green Scot has teams operating across Glasgow every day including Glasgow South Side, Glasgow West End and Glasgow East End. We can help with all aspects of rubbish removal including house clearances, junk collection, construction waste, mattress disposal and green waste pick up.
